“The Friends of Women?”
Friends of the Libraries Panel Discussion

Panelists are:
* Phyllis Bernt, Chair of the Faculty Senate
* Kathleen Bonte, Women in Philanthropy Initiative and advisor for Chi Omega sorority
* Ann Brown, Director, Office of Nationally Competitive Awards, Honors Tutorial College
* Judith Grant, Director of the Women’s Studies Program.
* Catherine Brown, Friends of the Libraries program chair will moderate the panel.

“During the university’s Year of the Woman,” says Brown, chair of the Friends’ Program Committee. “we are interested in discussing the ways women are influencing or can influence the institution. I’m confident this can be a lively program.”

Bernt also serves as Professor in the McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems, Scripps College of Communication. Bonte is Senior Director of Donor Relations and Gift Administration in the Development Office. Through Brown’s program Ohio University students won several prestigious research awards including one each George Mitchell, Barry Goldwater, and Morris Udall awards in 2006. Grant has a joint appointment as director of Women’s Studies and Professor of Political Science.

The Friends of the Libraries (http://www.library.ohiou.edu/friends/) were established in 1979 to provide support for library collections and operations.
