The Ohio University Women’s Studies Program (http://www.ohiou.edu/womenstudies/) presents: A GIRL’S GOTTA EAT, THE MUSICAL. Centered on the lives of a fat actress, her fellow-fat-friend, Skinny Pretty, and Hot Man, this new musical satire is about life in the fat-lane. In the most hysterical way possible, the show portrays two over-weight women battling their way to get onto the stage, find a man, and discover friendship all at the same time. The fat actress finds herself in love with the Hot Man, longing for the day they would be together. While trying to find love, she finds herself along the way.

This musical raises the issues of body image, media standards and self-acceptance in a comical, energetic, musical view. Book and lyrics by Bonnie Milligan, music and lyrics by Ben Spangler.

A panel discussion will follow with eating disorder scholar Jeanne Heaton, Michelle Pride, and nutritionist Francie Astrom.

This performance is open to everyone and has been made possible through a generous donation by OU alum Barbara Allushuski. Cosponsored by WSFUN, Counseling and Psychological Services, OU School of Dance, OU School of Theatre, and The Movement Organization.
