ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 5, 2007) — Fiction writer-in-residence Suzanne Strempek Shea will give a public reading of her work on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Galbreath Chapel at the Athens campus of Ohio University. A reception and book signing will follow. Suzanne Strempek Shea is the author of 5 novels, including SELLING THE LITE OF HEAVEN and HOOPI SHOOPI DONNA, all published by Washington Square Press. She is a winner of the 2000 New England Book Award, which recognizes her contribution to the region, and has also written two memoirs: SONGS FROM A LEAD-LINED ROOM and SHELF LIFE: ROMANCE, MYSTERY, DRAMA AND OTHER PAGE-TURNING ADVENTURES FROM A YEAR IN A BOOKSTORE.

Shea will be in residency at Ohio University from Jan. 17 through 19. In addition to her public reading, she will visit an undergraduate fiction class, hold a workshop for graduate students and meet with fiction graduate students for individual discussions.
