ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 6, 2006) – The College of Arts and Sciences (http://www.cas.ohiou.edu/) is proud to announce the first in a series of lectures designed to highlight the research and creative activity of Arts and Sciences’ faculty members who were recently promoted to the rank of professor. This year, we will be presenting eight, 40 to 45 minute lectures throughout the academic year.

Dr. Christine Gidycz (http://www.psych.ohiou.edu/people/faculty/gidycz/gidycz.html), department of psychology (http://www.psych.ohiou.edu/), will be the first to present in this series. All are invited for the award presentation and lecture of Dr. Gidycz entitled, “Sexual Violence: From Hidden Rape to a Major Public Health Problem,” on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. in 194 Irvine Hall. The lecture will be followed by a wine and cheese reception in the lobby at Irvine Hall.

The presentation will also be available to Arts and Sciences’ alumni around the world through a live internet broadcast using streaming video technology (an e-mail announcement informed alumni of the event). You may access the live feed on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. by clicking the following link http://streaming.cns.ohiou.edu/CAS. Those who are unable to participate in the live broadcast of the presentation and lecture may access a video and audio (MP3) archive on the college’s Web site in the future.

Please join us as we recognize Dr. Gidycz’s significant scholarly achievements. Since this is a new college initiative, your feedback would be greatly appreciated. If you have time, send me an e-mail to Ben Ogles at ogles@ohio.edu.
